Noli Me Tangere Garter Enamel Pin
Noli Me Tangere Garter Enamel Pin
Inspired by Tudor Imagery the Noli Me Tangere collection takes the symbols of that tie an turns them on their heads. This enamel pin was drawn from the symbol of the Order of the Garter but repurposed to bear the motto of a modern age: Noli Me Tangere - Do Not Touch Me.
Pin measures 1.75 inches long and 1.25 inches across
This saying has biblical origins in the gospel of John, and was reimagined further in a poem by Sir Thomas Wyatt. Although different meanings have been translated from both of these sources, this time we have used it as a talisman for bodily autonomy. In a time where rights over people’s bodies are being controlled or stripped away, we wanted to bring new meaning to the phrase. Here ‘Noli me Tangere’ screams ‘Touch me Not’ to those who would strip away reproductive rights for people who should have the choice. Do not touch my body, for it is mine alone to govern.
